Program Specialist
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Special Education and the Coordinator of Special Education, the Program Specialist assists in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of programs for individuals with special needs. The program and inclusion specialist will provide coordination, consultation and program development across all levels from Infant to Adult Transition. The Specialist supports compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, facilitates high-quality instruction in the least restrictive environment, and provides professional development, coaching, and technical assistance to certificated and classified staff. The ideal candidate for CCUSD will be able to demonstrate an ability to support students and a willingness to work collaboratively and independently in a diverse environment committed to equity, justice, and students' social and emotional wellness.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Appropriate special education teaching credential; Possession of a valid California Special Education Credential including Autism authorization and CLAD/English Language Learner certification or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of a Master of Arts or Sciences degree from an accredited college or university in special education or closely related field to special education;
- Minimum of 5 years of successful experience as a certificated special education teacher or specialist, or closely related professional discipline;
- Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to special education;
- Knowledge of basic assessment strategies for students with special needs;
- Knowledge of the continuum of special education services and placement options ;
- Knowledge of inclusionary practices and experience working in inclusive educational settings;
- Experience and expertise in the following areas: IEP meeting facilitation, conflict resolution strategies and procedures, and team-building methods and techniques;
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms;
- Possession of exceptional interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills and flexibility.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent mental and physical health standards
- Ability to interact well with populations with multiple abilities, students with disabilities, and general education students. Ability to interact with staff, parents and community agencies from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- A valid California Driver's License and the use of an insured automobile is required. All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such on the confidential/legal section of the application, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
