About the Role
Our client, a leading M&E contractor, is seeking a highly experienced MEP Project Manager to oversee a complex, high-value project in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK . This is a critical role requiring extensive knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within large-scale construction projects. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of all MEP aspects, ensuring seamless integration with the overall construction schedule, budget, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with exceptional technical understanding, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to manage a diverse team in a dynamic environment. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, providing a balance between site presence and remote coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) works from design through to commissioning and handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed MEP project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
- Coordinate MEP activities with other construction disciplines to ensure smooth project flow.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour teams involved in MEP works.
- Oversee the procurement of MEP equipment and materials.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
- Manage MEP-related risks, issues, and variations, implementing effective solutions.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and statutory authorities on all MEP matters.
- Ensure effective testing, commissioning, and handover of all MEP systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience managing MEP aspects of major construction projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex MEP installations.
- Strong understanding of building services, HVAC, electrical systems, and plumbing.
- Proficiency in project management software and MEP design/coordination tools (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP).
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working on projects in the Cambridge or Cambridgeshire region is highly desirable.
- SMSTS and First Aid certifications are required.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working model.
