About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Project Manager to join their dynamic IT department in
Edinburgh, Scotland, UK . This role is pivotal in managing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex IT infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for overseeing hardware and software implementations, network upgrades, and system integrations, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background combined with excellent project management acumen. This is a
hybrid role, allowing for a blend of in-office collaboration in
Edinburgh and remote working flexibility, fostering both team cohesion and individual focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of IT infrastructure projects, from initiation and planning through to execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, technical requirements, and success criteria.
- Develop detailed project plans, including resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate and lead technical teams, vendors, and third-party suppliers.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks and dependencies.
- Ensure adherence to IT security policies and best practices throughout project lifecycles.
- Monitor project progress, track key metrics, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Project Manager, with a strong focus on IT infrastructure projects (networking, servers, cloud, data centers).
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components and architectures.
- Proven experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Proficiency in using project management software (e.g., Jira, MS Project) and IT service management tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
- A relevant Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- IT certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, or CCNA are highly desirable.
