About the Role
Our client, a prominent national retail chain, requires a meticulous and proactive Technical Project Manager to oversee a critical infrastructure rollout project across their network of stores in
Cardiff and surrounding regions. This role is essential for upgrading network hardware, implementing new POS systems, and ensuring seamless technological integration to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of this complex deployment, coordinating with internal IT teams, external vendors, and store personnel. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, coupled with exceptional project management skills and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of the infrastructure rollout project, from planning and procurement to installation and handover.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement, delivery, and installation services.
- Oversee the deployment of new network equipment, POS systems, and related technologies in retail locations.
- Ensure minimal disruption to store operations during the rollout process.
- Manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement timely solutions.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure quality of work.
- Liaise with store managers and regional teams to facilitate smooth implementation and training.
- Prepare and present comprehensive project status reports to senior management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managing large-scale IT infrastructure projects, specifically rollouts.
- Strong technical understanding of networking, hardware, and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Demonstrable experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Experience with change management and user training is advantageous.
- Ability to travel to various store locations as required.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with working in a retail environment is a plus.
- This role requires a hybrid working pattern, with regular attendance at our client's Cardiff hub.
