Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects, ensuring profitability and compliance.
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control systems.
- Oversee procurement processes, including tendering, subcontractor selection, and negotiation.
- Prepare and submit valuations, claims, and final accounts.
- Manage contract administration and ensure adherence to all contractual terms and conditions.
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Monitor project performance against budget and schedule, providing regular financial reports.
- Resolve contractual disputes and manage change orders effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (7+ years) in a commercial management or project management role within the construction industry.
- Proven track record of managing commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of various construction contract forms (e.g., JCT, NEC).
- Strong understanding of construction finance, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office Suite and contract management tools.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is essential.
- Full UK driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites in and around Cardiff .
- Experience in dispute resolution and claims management is highly valued.
