Overview In this role you will lead complex custodial projects from preconstruction through operational delivery, focusing on prisons and MoJ/HMPPS environments. You work closely with bid, design and commercial teams to shape winning strategies and set up projects for delivery. On site, you oversee operations planning and day-to-day construction, ensuring safe, timely handover with complete O&M documentation. Responsibilities - Preconstruction & work winning support: shape custodial bids, contribute to tendering, and align bids with security and operational requirements
- Coordinate with planners, estimators, design managers and MEP specialists to develop robust bids
- Ensure bids reflect custodial security, compliance and operational needs
- Take accountability for the delivery programme and site sequencing on live custodial sites
- Identify and mitigate project risks in secure environments
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and supply chain partners to deliver safely, on time, within budget
- Act as Operations Planning & Delivery Lead on site, transitioning from preconstruction to live delivery
- Maintain HSE standards and deliver a clean, defect-free handover with complete O&M documentation
- Understand contractual and commercial positions, and maintain relationships with customers, consultants and regulatory bodies
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership and support governance approvals
- Support commercial negotiations and help reduce cost of error and improve delivery certainty
Key requirements - Experience on Prisons, HMP, MoJ or other custodial construction projects
- Understanding of custodial project complexities, compliance and operational sensitivities
- Proven construction project management experience spanning preconstruction and operational delivery
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership of multidisciplinary teams
- Sound commercial and contractual understanding with risk management ability
- Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills
- Existing security clearance or ability to obtain vetting for custodial/MoJ sites
