Overview In this role you will manage the Rolling Stock Test Fleet operations for London Underground and related infrastructure. You provide technical leadership and project management to rolling stock, depot and stabling activities, and oversee interfaces for bringing new trains into passenger service. You will support the Senior Fleet Manager, track test obligations, and escalate risks within the fleet engineering risk management plan. You will establish a reporting system to monitor delivery of test duties and ensure safe, compliant operations. This role involves shift work and occasional weekend support to the testing programme.
Responsibilities - Manage multiple rolling stock test fleets for various trains and interfaces.
- Provide technical leadership and project management support to rolling stock, depot and stabling activities.
- Oversee interfaces for introduction of new trains into passenger service.
- Support the Senior Fleet Manager in implementing test fleet into service and deputise as needed.
- Track, monitor and escalate delivery of test obligations in the master test programme.
- Maintain and close out rolling stock test fleet risks in the fleet engineering risk management plan.
- Establish and operate an internal period reporting system for the Test fleet.
Key requirements - Substantial modern rolling stock engineering experience
- Knowledge of 25 kV fleets
- Experience with modern signalling systems (CBTC, ETCS)
- Diagnostics and prognostics experience
- Experience with routine maintenance railway depot operations, stabling, train preparation, remote repair, modification programs
- Familiarity with UK and international rolling stock standards
- Understanding of railway safety regimes and safety management systems
