Overview In this role you will govern and prioritise the FT's portfolio of change initiatives, ensuring projects align with strategy and deliver value. You will partner with senior stakeholders across Product, Technology, Editorial, Data, Commercial and Corporate functions to enable data-driven decisions and transparent governance. You will shape intake, assessment, capacity planning and reporting to maximise business value while embedding best-practice portfolio management. Responsibilities - Lead portfolio intake and demand management, review new initiatives, identify duplication and determine delivery pathways
- Collaborate with stakeholders to shape proposals with sufficient information for evaluation and prioritisation
- Ensure initiatives meet governance standards, impact criteria and investment requirements
- Challenge business cases and benefit forecasts to support evidence-based decisions
- Highlight risks, dependencies, opportunity costs, and capacity impacts for clear prioritisation
- Manage quality of submissions to governance forums for senior leadership
- Lead portfolio capacity planning and visibility of demand and delivery constraints
- Support quarterly/annual planning with robust analysis and prioritisation recommendations
- Produce governance reporting and monitor delivery against approved business cases
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders to promote governance and accountability
- Drive continuous improvement through lean governance and outcome-based investment approaches
- Support automation and enhancement of portfolio management tools and frameworks
Key requirements - Proven experience leading enterprise portfolio management, PMO/VMO leadership or strategic programme governance
- Strong understanding of technology change and cross-team evaluation of investment opportunities
- Excellent financial acumen with experience evaluating investment value and ROI
- Experience in complex, matrixed organisations
- Outstanding facilitation, communication and stakeholder management with senior leaders
- Ability to translate strategic objectives into prioritisation frameworks and governance processes
- Strong analytical skills with a data-driven decision-making approach
- Experience within media, publishing, digital subscription or technology-led organisations (desirable)
- Experience supporting investment identification, prioritisation and portfolio oversight (desirable)
- Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and product operating models (desirable)
- Experience with portfolio management frameworks (Lean Portfolio Management, MoP, SAFe LPM or enterprise PPM platforms) (desirable)
