Overview In this role you lead the delivery of capital infrastructure projects and programmes from strategy to post-occupancy, coordinating client teams, designers and contractors to achieve timely outcomes. You define delivery structures, manage budgets and resources, and monitor risks and governance to realise ROI for clients. You will steer cross-functional teams, produce concise status reports for senior leadership, and guide healthcare, life sciences, or education-focused commissions. Responsibilities - Manage activities and deliverables to ensure timely project/programme delivery with client teams, designers, and contractors
- Define and communicate project vision and scope to delivery teams and stakeholders
- Plan delivery structure, phasing and resources to realise business case and ROI
- Control project/programme finances, resources and activities within constraints
- Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies according to standards and governance
- Lead and motivate delivery teams with clear roles and responsibilities
- Produce regular delivery performance reports for client boards
- Support programme governance and decision-making with subject matter expertise
- Ensure successful delivery of health and life science projects and programmes
- Serve as the key client and team point of contact
- Follow structured project management processes and procedures
- Contribute to and develop a high-performing specialist team of consultants
- Monitor progress to ensure compliance with values, financial instructions and legislation
- Update commission execution plans and monitor fee management to achieve targets
Key requirements - Experience as Lead Project or Programme Manager for delivery of commissions
- Senior Project/Programme Manager experience in complex environments; construction/consultancy/health or life sciences is advantageous
- Experience presenting to programme/project boards using written/visual tools
- Experience delivering with common procurement methods and NEC 3/4 contract strategies
- Knowledge of NHS Capital Investment Manual, RIBA Plan of Work, OGC Gateways
- Strong stakeholder engagement across levels of seniority
- Ability to translate technical information for non-technical stakeholders
- Public sector knowledge with healthcare/life sciences/higher education project understanding
- Excellent communications and facilitation skills; formal report writing and advisory capabilities
- Degree or equivalent preferred; Chartered institute membership (RICS/CIBSE/CIOB/APM/MICE) and project management qualifications (e.g., APM PMQ, NEC PM accreditation, MRICs or ChPP)
