Overview In this role you will lead a major rail project to deliver a station upgrade, coordinating a cross-functional team within a civil engineering contractor. You’ll align project goals with client requirements, manage risks, and drive HSQE compliance and procurement milestones. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across clients and suppliers to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery while maintaining strong governance. This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on delivering a high-impact transport infrastructure program.
Responsibilities - define project organisation and responsibilities
- communicate project requirements to the team
- set stretch targets for team members
- integrate client service-providers into the project team
- establish project communications with Client/Representative
- manage information flow among the project team and third parties
- implement and oversee the project management system
- lead HSQE management and approve IMS Plan
- evaluate risks and opportunities
- organise planning management
- establish procurement deadlines and review contract programme
- define works packages and assist in subcontractor/supplier awards
- contract management and supervision of progress
- project controlling and change management
- assist in staff recruitment and training needs
- external depiction of the project with HUK management
- provide period commercial and delivery reporting to internal stakeholders
Key requirements - Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or similar
- previous experience on large-scale Rail projects
- commercial, financial, project and programme management experience
- excellent leadership and tendering skills
- good numeracy and IT skills (MS Office)
- strong team player with clear communication at all levels
- excellent organisation and time management
- Full UK Driving licence
- eligible to work permanently in the UK (EU, ILR, or British Passport)
- solid understanding of Network Rail, London Underground and TfL procedures
