Overview In this role you lead preparations for the REF2029 submission within the central REF team, guiding data analysis, policy development, and narrative production. You collaborate with ICT and Library to manage databases and audit trails, ensuring a high-quality submission within tight deadlines. You’ll influence governance and reporting, shaping institutional narratives and disciplinary evidence statements. Responsibilities - Lead analysis of REF-related data and design reports/dashboards
- Draft and edit components of the REF submission
- Manage the REF-related element of the annual HESA staff return
- Develop University-wide policies and procedures relating to REF2029
- Support governance, committees, and working groups for REF2029
- Collaborate with ICT and Library on database management for audit purposes
- Develop institutional-level narrative statements and disciplinary evidence statements
- Ensure submission quality within tight REF timelines
Key requirements - Experience coordinating complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines
- Experience working with large datasets relevant to research outputs or institutional reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with data visualization and dashboard development (PowerBI or equivalent)
- Awareness of data management best practices, including audit and compliance requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with staff at all levels
