Overview As a Cost Controller in the Defence South East team, you drive cost control and performance management across high-profile programmes. You will work with project teams to implement robust cost systems, align budgets with schedules, and support change control to protect project baselines. Responsibilities - Collaborate with project delivery teams within a wider cost control function or independently with guidance from senior cost professionals
- Implement and maintain cost control systems to monitor budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts
- Support development/maintenance of an integrated PMB with the Integrated Project Team and change control alignment
- Create CBS and align time-phased budgets with WBS for accurate cost tracking
- Prepare accruals to reflect Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP)
- Develop and maintain cost tracking tools and generate cost reports, including Earned Value Analysis (EVA)
- Provide cost input for Change Requests and participate in change control boards, incorporating changes into the baseline
- Update forecasts to maintain accurate Estimate to Complete (ETC)
- Deliver timely cost information to support project status reporting and decision-making
Key requirements - Proven cost control/project controls experience in complex, large-scale infrastructure or Defence programmes
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, accruals, EVM, and cost performance analysis knowledge
- Ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships for long-term partnerships
- Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and advisors across multiple projects
- Practical Excel skills and experience with cost tracking and reporting
- Proficiency with Cost Management tools such as ECOSYS, PRISM, COBRA or similar
- Understanding of integration with scheduling, risk management, reporting, and change control
