Overview As a Project Manager for HV substations, you will lead transformer and grid-infrastructure projects across the UK from kickoff to close, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and to top quality and safety standards. You’ll work in a technically driven environment with engineering, procurement, logistics and site teams, collaborating with external stakeholders to manage complex energy projects. The role combines project leadership with commercial insight to support bids and business development. You will travel to sites and client locations as needed, operating in a hybrid model that enables effective delivery and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities - Lead transformer and power infrastructure projects from award to completion
- Deliver projects within scope, programme, budget, quality and safety standards
- Develop detailed plans, schedules and resource strategies
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, logistics and site operations
- Track performance against milestones and objectives
- Produce project reports for senior management and stakeholders
- Manage documentation and contractual deliverables
- Act as primary contact for clients, suppliers, consultants and internal teams
- Maintain project budgets and monitor financial performance
- Support change management, claims, and contractual obligations
- Contribute commercial insight to project decision-making
- Identify risks and opportunities and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with procedures, standards and regulatory requirements
- Promote health, safety and quality across activities
- Provide project delivery expertise to tendering and business development
- Capture lessons learned and drive process improvements
- Promote best practice project management across the organisation
Key requirements - Minimum 5 years’ project management experience in power, energy, engineering, utilities or heavy industry
- Proven track record delivering complex technical, engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, budgeting and risk management
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial functions
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation including the Health & Safety at Work Act and CDM Regulations
