Overview As a Project Manager at Stantec, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams on water and wastewater projects from planning through commissioning. You bring deep engineering know-how to evaluate and specify systems, mentor staff, and manage budgets and client relationships. You’ll guide projects to reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while coordinating with clients, consultants, and contractors. Responsibilities - Lead design and construction oversight of water and wastewater facilities and related studies
- Act as primary client liaison and coordinate internal and external teams
- Provide technical leadership for water/wastewater process and related systems
- Supervise staff, set priorities, budgets, and schedules
- Conduct business-case analyses and evaluate alternatives
- Oversee selection and specification of treatment systems/products
- Manage project finances, invoicing, and progress reporting
- Coordinate construction documentation, drawings, specs, and cost estimates
- Interface with clients and management on scope, schedule, and budget
- Coordinate constructability reviews and ensure QA/QC on projects
- Maintain regulatory knowledge and liaise with authorities
- Prepare proposals and support negotiations for contracts
- Contribute to marketing and business development to secure projects
Key requirements - Demonstrated project management and technical leadership across multiple concurrent projects
- Understanding of client expectations, budgeting, and high-quality deliverables
- Strong knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes, hydraulics, regulatory compliance, and industry standards
- Experience with design and construction codes and project documentation
- Ability to lead design teams within contract frameworks and manage costs
- Advanced understanding of engineering concepts and clear communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team with minimal supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure
