Overview In this contract role you will lead a cross-disciplinary land rights team to plan and deliver UK infrastructure projects, aligning with the UK’s net-zero ambitions. You’ll oversee land acquisition, community negotiations and expert testimony, while implementing the Land Rights Strategy. You will manage risks, report milestones to stakeholders, and coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure successful delivery.
Responsibilities - Lead a team of land rights specialists from inception to completion on major infra projects
- Provide expert guidance and technical support to the team
- Manage surveyors and land officers for new infrastructure builds
- Act as expert witness in Public Inquiries, Compulsory Purchase, and Land Tribunal cases
- Implement National Grid's Land Rights Strategy in a cost-effective way
- Report progress, milestones, risks, and financial matters to stakeholders
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and communicate complex ideas
- Support the Head of ETNI/SINI Land Teams in project delivery
- Provide technical advice to National Grid's Land Team and the project team
- Liaise with stakeholders, external suppliers, and third parties to achieve objectives
- Attend relevant meetings and forums as required
Key requirements - Significant experience managing large-scale, complex land projects
- Proven ability to guide and support a team
- Strong communication skills and conflict handling
- Excellent project management skills with knowledge of land rights and acquisitions
- Relevant professional qualifications preferred (e.g., Member of the RICS, project management certifications)
