Project Manager – Civil Land Development
Location: Phoenix, AZ, On-site
Our client is an established civil engineering organization seeking an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of land development projects while serving as a key technical leader and client partner. Focus:
- Lead civil land development assignments from initial planning and scoping through successful project delivery.
- Establish project plans that balance staffing needs, schedules, budgets, technical requirements, and client expectations.
- Direct engineering teams and outside consultants, providing technical guidance and maintaining accountability for project performance.
- Act as a primary client partner, turning business objectives and development needs into practical engineering strategies.
- Develop scopes and fee proposals, participate in contract negotiations, and help strengthen existing and prospective client relationships.
- Apply civil engineering expertise to solve technical challenges associated with site development and residential projects.
- Evaluate engineering deliverables for accuracy, quality, consistency, and alignment with project requirements.
- Mentor engineering professionals through technical direction, performance feedback, and day-to-day leadership.
- Manage resources and priorities across concurrent assignments while maintaining commitments to clients and project teams.
- Leverage AutoCAD Civil 3D familiarity when reviewing designs, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with project staff.
Skill Set:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 8 or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Active Arizona Professional Engineer license, or the ability to secure Arizona PE registration within 3 months.
- Strong technical civil engineering background with substantial experience in site development and/or residential projects.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, supervise, and coordinate technical engineering work while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
- Proven client-facing success, including initiating relationships, negotiating contracts, maintaining client partnerships, and generating referrals.
- Strong project leadership capabilities encompassing budgets, schedules, resources, quality, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Sound professional judgment, excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple critical priorities.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead effectively in a collaborative environment.
