About the Role
Our client, a prominent organisation in the property development and management sector, is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to oversee significant capital projects within
Edinburgh . This role is central to the planning, execution, and successful delivery of new construction, renovation, and refurbishment projects. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of these capital investments, ensuring they meet strategic objectives, budget constraints, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of capital projects, from feasibility studies and design through to construction and handover.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate and manage all project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and internal departments.
- Oversee procurement processes, tender evaluations, and contract negotiations with external suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the specified quality and safety standards.
- Proactively identify and manage project risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with project plans and regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports, including progress updates, financial status, and risk assessments.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
- Manage project closure activities, including final inspections, snagging, and documentation handover.
Requirements
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as RICS or APM are highly advantageous.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, specifically focused on capital projects, construction, or property development.
- Demonstrated success in managing budgets in excess of £5 million for construction projects.
- Thorough understanding of construction methodologies, building regulations, and health & safety legislation.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asta Powerproject).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and effectively.
- Strong understanding of contract law and procurement procedures.
- Experience working within the Scottish property or construction market, particularly in Edinburgh , is preferred.
- Must possess strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to project delivery.
