About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Mining Project Manager to oversee key development and expansion projects within their portfolio, based out of the Plymouth, Devon, UK region. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and execution capabilities to drive projects from conception through to completion, on time and within budget. You will manage all aspects of project lifecycles, including feasibility studies, engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to manage projects remotely while also requiring on-site presence for critical phases and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and closure of complex mining projects.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Manage project teams, including engineers, geologists, contractors, and consultants.
- Oversee procurement, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Ensure projects comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
- Regularly report on project status, key milestones, and financial performance to senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field; PMP certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of project management experience within the mining industry .
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale mining projects.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, project finance, and contract management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage projects effectively in a hybrid, potentially multi-site environment.
