Overview In this role you will help deliver multidisciplinary environmental projects as part of WSP’s Environmental Project Management team. You will work with Senior Project Managers and Technical Leads to keep initiatives safe, on track and within budget, with exposure to a varied portfolio across the UK for public and private clients. You’ll have the chance to manage smaller projects or support larger programmes, and mentor junior colleagues while contributing to a growing environmental capability. Responsibilities - Assist in developing project proposals including scope, resources, programme and budget
- Create and maintain project documentation (plans, cost forecasts, risk registers, schedules) for smaller projects and support larger ones
- Monitor progress and drive delivery to meet timelines
- Manage day-to-day costs (time, budgets, forecasts, spend) to align with progress
- Ensure health and safety requirements for site visits and obtain internal approvals
- Support contract management and administrative activities to keep projects compliant
- Proactively manage change and risk with technical teams to maintain scope and governance
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate stakeholders and suppliers
- Champion environmental outcomes and contribute to sustainability and net-zero ambitions across projects
- Build relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders and represent the Environment and Consents team
Key requirements - Experience as Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager in environmental or sustainability sectors
- Understanding of programme management principles (WBS, dependencies, critical path) and ability to interpret MS Project or Primavera P6 outputs
- Commercial awareness including budget management and change control with projects delivered within budget
- Familiarity with Professional Services Contracts (e.g. NEC3/4) (advantageous)
- Confident written and verbal communicator
- Working towards or holding membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. PMI, APM, MIEnvSc, MIEMA, MRICS)
- Interest in environment and sustainable land development; proactive, growth-oriented mindset
