Position Overview
A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful execution of large-scale commercial construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record managing complex commercial projects from preconstruction through completion, with K-12 construction experience highly preferred . This position is well suited for a senior-level construction professional who is comfortable managing significant project budgets, leading project teams, and serving as a key point of contact for owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
Experience with large public-sector projects, particularly K-12 schools, higher education, municipal, or other institutional construction , is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and turnover.
- Maintain overall responsibility for project budget, schedule, contract administration, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and execution strategies.
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and other project documents to identify risks, conflicts, and opportunities.
- Manage project financials, including forecasting, cost control, billing, buyout, and profitability.
- Oversee contract administration, change orders, RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and project documentation.
- Lead and coordinate Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and other project team members.
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Lead regular project meetings and provide clear communication regarding project progress, budget, schedule, and risks.
- Monitor project schedules and proactively address issues that could impact completion dates.
- Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, including scope, performance, and contract compliance.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with company safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Support preconstruction efforts, estimating, constructability reviews, and project handoff.
- Oversee commissioning, punch list, closeout, and final project turnover.
- Maintain strong relationships with owners and clients and serve as a senior representative of the company.
- Mentor and develop junior project management staff and contribute to the overall growth of the project team.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of commercial construction experience , with significant Project Management experience.
- Proven experience managing large-scale commercial construction projects .
- K-12 construction experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with projects involving significant budgets, complex schedules, and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, and sequencing.
- Demonstrated experience managing project financials, budgets, schedules, contracts, and change orders.
- Strong knowledge of construction documents, specifications, contracts, and project controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong client relationship and subcontractor management skills.
- Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software.
Preferred Experience
- K-12 school construction
- Public-sector construction and government-funded projects
- Higher education, municipal, healthcare, or other institutional construction
- Ground-up construction and major renovations
- Projects valued at $30M+
- Experience working with public owners, school districts, architects, and construction managers
- Experience with GMP, negotiated, design-build, or other alternative delivery methods
- Strong understanding of prevailing wage, public bidding, and other requirements associated with public-sector construction
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred

The successful candidate should be comfortable operating at a senior level, independently managing project financials and client relationships while providing leadership and mentorship to the broader project team.
