Project Manager – Capital Projects | Heavy Industrial
Position Overview:
A leading industrial organization is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support capital and sustaining projects across multiple production facilities in Central Florida.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity responsible for managing projects throughout the full lifecycle—from early development and planning through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of accountability for assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with established project governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage capital and sustaining projects from concept development through commissioning and closeout.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and resource requirements.
- Define and manage project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, operations, maintenance, environmental, and contractor teams.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining cost, schedule, quality, and safety objectives.
- Develop project estimates, forecasts, cash flow projections, and capital authorization documentation.
- Monitor project expenditures, commitments, accruals, and overall financial performance.
- Develop scopes of work and support contractor bidding and selection.
- Manage contractor performance, including safety, quality, schedule, cost, and resource requirements.
- Identify project risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) and established project governance processes.
- Provide project updates, forecasts, risk assessments, and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of project execution practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in project management, engineering, construction, maintenance, or operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing capital projects from development through execution and closeout.
- Strong understanding of project cost control, scheduling, contracting, risk management, and project governance.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, construction, operations, and contractor teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within chemical processing, fertilizer, mining, manufacturing, infrastructure, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Experience managing capital projects ranging from approximately $5M to $50M+.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with SAP, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar project management systems.
