About the Role
Our client, a prominent player in the UK's energy infrastructure development, is seeking an accomplished Project Manager to lead the execution of exciting new energy storage system projects across Cardiff and surrounding regions. This is a critical role where you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex projects, from initial planning and stakeholder engagement through to final commissioning and handover. You will manage budgets, timelines, resources, and risks, ensuring successful project outcomes that align with our client's strategic objectives in advancing grid stability and renewable energy integration. This position requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of project management principles within the energy sector. This is a site-based role, offering direct engagement with project teams and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of energy storage system projects, ensuring they meet scope, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource allocation.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and forecast costs accurately.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate and manage multiple stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Oversee the procurement process for equipment and services, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Ensure all projects adhere to strict health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, conduct regular site visits in the Cardiff area, and provide timely status reports to senior management.
- Facilitate effective communication among project team members and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical), Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of proven project management experience, with a significant portion dedicated to the energy sector, specifically in power systems, renewables, or energy storage.
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects from conception through to completion, including P&L responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Excellent understanding of energy storage technologies (e.g., Li-ion batteries, flow batteries) and grid infrastructure.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations pertinent to construction and energy projects.
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Cardiff region.
