About the Role
Our client, a leading contractor within the demanding defence industry, requires a highly experienced Project Manager to join their team in **Portsmouth**. This critical role involves overseeing complex projects related to defence systems, naval technology, and associated infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the stringent quality and security standards expected within this sector. This is an on-site position requiring full commitment to the project demands and the security protocols of the **Portsmouth** facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of defence-related projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, encompassing scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Ensure strict adherence to defence industry regulations, quality standards, and security protocols.
- Manage cross-functional teams, including engineers, technical specialists, and supply chain partners.
- Oversee procurement, contract negotiations, and supplier management.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with all project stakeholders, including government agencies and senior management.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively.
- Manage project financials, including budget tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
- Conduct thorough project reviews and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Significant experience in project management, with a proven track record in the defence, aerospace, or related high-security sectors.
- Demonstrable experience in managing complex technical projects with significant budgets.
- In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearance (e.g., SC Cleared).
- Strong understanding of the defence procurement process and regulatory landscape.
- Proficiency in project management software.
- A degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
