About the Role
Our client, WhatJobs Direct, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Project Manager to lead significant infrastructure development projects in and around **Derby, Derbyshire, UK**. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and a proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects from inception through to completion. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, including planning, budgeting, resource management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in infrastructure project management, possess excellent negotiation skills, and be adept at managing multiple concurrent initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
- Develop comprehensive project strategies, business cases, and implementation plans.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee resource allocation, including team members, contractors, and external consultants.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively.
- Manage and build strong relationships with all project stakeholders, including government bodies, community groups, and commercial partners.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and contractual obligations.
- Appoint and manage contractors, ensuring high standards of work and performance.
- Report on project progress, outcomes, and key performance indicators to senior leadership.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are essential.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with a substantial track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation, utilities, public works).
- Demonstrated experience in managing multi-million-pound budgets and complex project teams.
- Expertise in contract management, procurement, and negotiation.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, planning regulations, and health and safety legislation.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
- Proficiency in advanced project management software.
- Must be able to work full-time from our **Derby** office and travel to project sites as needed.
