About the Role
Our client, a prominent national contractor in the
Construction industry, is seeking a highly accomplished
Senior Project Manager to lead major civil engineering projects from inception through to completion in
Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK . This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and a proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project delivery, including financial management, risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of large-scale civil engineering projects.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
- Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Manage client relationships and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies.
- Oversee procurement, contract administration, and financial management for projects.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Chair project meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Resolve complex project issues and make timely, informed decisions.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery processes.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in project management within the civil engineering and Construction sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects with values exceeding £20 million.
- Strong understanding of contract management (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and financial controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and methodologies.
- Chartered status (e.g., CEng, PMP) is highly desirable.
- Experience working on projects within the Wolverhampton or wider West Midlands area.
- Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment, balancing office presence with remote collaboration.
