About the Role
Our client, a prominent engineering and manufacturing firm specializing in maritime and defence solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to lead critical projects in **Plymouth, Devon, UK**. This role is essential for delivering complex naval systems and defence infrastructure projects on time and within budget. You will be responsible for managing all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial conception and design through to production and testing. This is a hands-on, site-based position requiring your consistent presence at our **Plymouth** facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of complex maritime and defence projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop detailed project plans, including risk management, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Lead and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams, including engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Oversee procurement activities, contract negotiations, and supplier management.
- Ensure strict compliance with defence industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
- Conduct regular project reviews, reporting progress, risks, and issues to senior management.
- Manage project documentation, including technical specifications, progress reports, and financial records.
- Liaise effectively with government clients, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in project execution and team performance.
Requirements
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects within the maritime or defence sectors.
- Strong understanding of defence procurement processes and relevant industry standards (e.g., MoD standards).
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and defence-specific tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- A degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related technical field.
- Eligibility for security clearance is essential for this role.
