About the Role
Our client, a leading innovator in the pharmaceutical sector, is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Senior Pharmaceutical Project Manager to lead critical drug development initiatives. This key role, based in our Derby, Derbyshire, UK office, is responsible for the planning, execution, and successful completion of complex pharmaceutical projects from early development through to regulatory submission. You will manage cross-functional teams, budgets, and timelines, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and delivering projects on time and within scope. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage cross-functional project teams through all phases of the pharmaceutical product development lifecycle.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial objectives are met.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing contingency plans as needed.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners.
- Monitor project progress and performance, reporting key milestones, deviations, and outcomes to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA) and internal company policies.
- Facilitate decision-making processes and resolve conflicts within project teams.
- Manage vendor and third-party relationships related to project activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management methodologies and processes within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology) or relevant project management qualification.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple complex pharmaceutical development projects from inception to completion.
- In-depth understanding of the drug development process, including preclinical, clinical, and regulatory affairs.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile) and tools.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
- PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
