About the Role
Our client, a well-established manufacturing firm renowned for its quality products, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their operations team in
Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK . This role will focus on managing projects related to process improvement, operational efficiency, and the implementation of new manufacturing technologies. You will be instrumental in driving projects that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety within the production environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing operations, engineering principles, and project management, with a proven ability to lead teams and deliver tangible results. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of manufacturing and operations improvement projects.
- Define project scope, develop detailed project plans, establish budgets, and manage resource allocation.
- Oversee the implementation of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies to improve efficiency and output.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality control, and supply chain teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies to minimise disruption.
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to efficiency, quality, and cost, and report to senior management.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant industry standards, health and safety regulations, and quality management systems.
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement for project-specific equipment and services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing operations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing, operations, or industrial engineering.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects focused on process improvement, automation, or operational efficiency within a manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, lean methodologies, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Experience managing project budgets typically in the range of £1 million to £5 million.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and familiarity with ERP systems.
- A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing), Operations Management, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work effectively in an on-site, collaborative manufacturing environment.
