About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Lead Project Manager to oversee and guide their project management office (PMO) and critical project deliveries in Manchester . This leadership position requires a strategic thinker capable of managing a portfolio of projects, mentoring project managers, and ensuring the consistent application of best practices across the organisation. You will be responsible for driving project success, mitigating risks at a portfolio level, and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision. This is an office-based role, offering a structured environment for impactful leadership within a respected organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of project managers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high performance.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle for major strategic initiatives, from planning and execution to monitoring and closure.
- Develop and implement project management standards, processes, and tools to optimise efficiency and consistency across the PMO.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, clients, and external vendors, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess project health, identify cross-project dependencies, and manage overall risk exposure.
- Ensure adherence to budget, scope, and timeline requirements for all managed projects.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of progressive experience in project management , with at least 3 years in a lead or senior management role.
- Extensive experience in managing large-scale, complex projects or a portfolio of projects.
- Strong understanding and practical application of various project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, accustomed to working in a corporate office environment .
- Professional certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is mandatory.
