Overview As Project Controls Manager, you will lead a multi-functional controls team on major UK construction projects, embedding robust cost, schedule, risk, and change controls to support delivery. You will work closely with the client’s Project Manager and supply chain to maintain a realistic baseline and drive alignment across stakeholders. This role offers influence over governance, reporting, and coaching senior teams to achieve schedule and cash-flow KPIs. Responsibilities - Embed an integrated breakdown structure by consolidating controls data.
- Lead estimating to establish a market-tested cost baseline and value-for-money focus.
- Coordinate master schedule development to ensure achievable durations.
- Incorporate procurement lead times and prioritise material/equipment orders to meet dates.
- Manage risk processes with qualitative and quantitative assessments for predictability.
- Lead stakeholder sign-off and provide regular progress visibility.
- Maintain robust updates across schedule, interfaces, cost, risk and changes.
- Guide principal contractor and client to drive delivery and cash-flow KPI achievement.
- Control master program with quality checks on client and contractor updates.
- Lead change management processes to track and approve changes efficiently.
- Identify trends and root causes of deviations, and report remedial actions for client value.
Key requirements - Proven experience delivering controls in a major project/programme environment
- Experience managing a multi-functional controls team
- Proficiency with Primavera (P6), Power BI, Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes
- Knowledge of engineering and construction management
- Experience leading collaborative workshops
- Reliable with ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Highly motivated with a client-delivery mindset and ability to work independently
