Overview In this role you drive the end-to-end delivery of automation projects, balancing technical delivery with commercial performance. You’ll lead multi-discipline teams, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure projects meet safety, time, cost and quality targets. You will work closely with engineering, planning, and commercial teams to maximise value for Bilfinger and clients. Responsibilities - Own the commercial and contractual delivery of allocated projects
- Lead the technical delivery to meet client specs while minimising cost
- Maintain proactive customer relationships and act as primary contact for technical and commercial issues
- Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority on all projects
- Develop and maintain project schedules with planners for effective control
- Manage procurement, invoicing, and cash flow in line with project needs
- Execute contract management and maximise revenue and variations
- Oversee risk identification and mitigation, including LDs and delivery timelines
- Provide multidisciplinary team leadership across automation, functional safety, electrical & instrumentation, and manufacturing
- Lead internal reporting (monthly progress, EV/CPI/S-Curve) and communicate to the Project Board
- Contribute to strategy development to maximise commercial returns on projects
- Plan scope, ensuring changes are commercially justified
- Coordinate sub-contract management and ensure delivery quality and timelines
- Support sales/proposals with technical and commercial input
- Align resource management to maximise engineer utilisation and meet client demands
- Ensure quality objectives meet client and project requirements
- Manage customer interface and maintain proactive engagement
- Oversee project controls and governance through QS, planners and project controls
Key requirements - 5 years’ engineering project delivery experience in utilities and/or related industries (e.g., nuclear, food & beverage, pharma, energy/renewables)
- Strong leadership and influencing skills
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and a portfolio of projects
- Experience with contract management and forms of contract (NEC3/4, IchemE, bespoke, CDM2015)
- Familiarity with project controls and tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, SAP)
- Knowledge of front-end through commissioning project phases
