Overview In this role you will lead HV/EHV projects within WSP's UK Transmission and Distribution team, driving from design through energisation. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, interface with clients, and ensure safety, quality and cost objectives are met on large substations and grid connections. The work offers exposure to high‑voltage infrastructure at 33kV–400kV, with a clear impact on project delivery and client outcomes. Responsibilities - Develop HV and EHV project requirements into compliant engineering solutions
- Manage the development and delivery of HV and EHV projects to time, cost, safety and quality
- Interface with customers and internal/external resources to deliver HV & EHV projects
- Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for HV and EHV projects
- Effectively communicate with internal engineering and industrial resources
- Coordinate external service providers and administer commercial matters
Key requirements - Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering
- Experience managing large and complex HV and EHV substation projects from feasibility to energisation
- Strong understanding of transmission and distribution plant items, operations, controls and systems (AIS/GIS, P&C, transformers, cables, overhead lines)
- Optioneering of substation configurations to meet functional requirements
- Project management of CAPEX and customer connection projects (33–400kV) from initiation to closure
- Design knowledge of AIS & GIS substations up to 400kV
- Knowledge of HV/EHV plant engineering standards, substations (earthing and clearances)
- Strong H&S and CDM understanding; ability to act as Designer/Principal Designer under CDM regulations
