Overview You will lead cross-functional teams to deliver strategic R&D and customer-funded projects in a high-technology imaging sensing environment. The role bridges engineering, manufacturing, and commercial functions to meet time, cost, and quality targets while driving governance and process improvements. You’ll manage budgets, reporting, and stakeholder communication on multi-year programs that push the boundaries of imaging sensors. This position offers exposure to senior leadership and impactful, mission-driven projects in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Responsibilities - Lead cross-functional teams of engineers and manufacturing staff to deliver projects on time, cost, and quality
- Apply consistent project management techniques and ensure adherence to processes
- Mentor junior team members and lead by example to hit targets
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to align goals
- Schedule projects in Microsoft Project and publish in MS Project Server
- Define and manage Phase Gate Reviews and ensure timely execution
- Clarify, document, and manage project scope with customers and internal/external partners
- Identify risks, issues, and dependencies; resolve before escalation
- Coordinate with Finance to monitor budget and provide data (ETCs, risk costs)
- Prepare and present project dashboards to Senior Leadership monthly
- Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering, and Programme Directors on technical and commercial solutions
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of project management processes
- Hit the ground running on existing projects to deliver revenue growth
- Lead management of additional projects and bid activities as needed
Key requirements - Experience managing projects through all or part of the lifecycle, with emphasis on production
- Ability to energise teams to meet critical timescales
- Capability to manage customer expectations and avoid scope creep
- Strong understanding of risk management in projects
- Persuasive and clear communication across all levels
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Sound judgement on when to own/brief vs escalate
- Proficiency in Project Management tools such as MS Project and MS Project Server
