Overview As a Project Controls Manager, you will lead a multi-functional controls team across major UK construction projects, embedding robust controls to protect schedule and cost. You will work with the client’s project manager and supply chain to deliver a realistic baseline and monitor progress, mitigating slippage. This is a growth-focused role within a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that values delivering client outcomes. You will shape governance, drive change, and steer actions for on-time delivery and cash flow impact, aligning with Turner & Townsend’s 2025 vision.
Responsibilities - Embed an integrated breakdown structure across all controls functions
- Coordinate and lead estimating to establish a market-tested cost baseline with value-for-money focus
- Coordinate and lead master schedule development to ensure achievable durations
- Incorporate procurement lead times into schedules to meet install dates
- Manage risk processes with qualitative/quantitative assessments for predictability
- Stakeholder management with sign-off on baseline and regular progress visibility
- Embed updates for schedule, interfaces, cost, risk, and changes
- Guide principal contractor and client to drive delivery and stay on schedule and cash flow KPIs
- Control costs using conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, and basic contingency/principal procurement principles
- Apply quality checks to master program updates from client and principal contractor
- Lead change management processes for tracking/approving changes
- Identify trends and root causes of deviations and propose remedial actions to maximise value for the client
Key requirements - Proven experience delivering controls in a major project/programme environment
- Experience leading a multi-functional controls team
- Proficiency with Primavera (P6), Power BI, Microsoft Office Applications
- Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and start-up processes
- Knowledge of engineering and construction management
- Experience leading collaborative workshops
- Reliability and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
