Overview In this role you will drive delivery of major civil works for HS2, coordinating with the main works contractor and project team to keep earthworks, bridges and viaducts on programme and within cost. You will work collaboratively across contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure safe, efficient delivery. You will challenge where needed while maintaining a solutions-focused approach to keep packages moving. This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape a flagship infrastructure programme at a pivotal stage.
Responsibilities - Lead delivery of major civil works packages across earthworks, bridges and viaducts within HS2 main civils programme
- Collaborate with the main works contractor and project team to resolve interfaces and delivery issues
- Monitor cost, schedule and performance to ensure alignment with programme targets
- Review and challenge contractor programmes without requiring specialist planning expertise
- Manage contractor and supplier relationships and performance
- Engage with stakeholders to balance requirements and secure buy-in
- Apply CDM regulations and maintain safe construction practices
- Support handover and close-out of major construction packages
Key requirements - Significant experience in project or construction management within complex infrastructure
- Strong civil engineering delivery experience across heavy civils, highways, rail, nuclear, tunnelling or similar programmes
- Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and programme delivery
- Ability to review and challenge contractor programmes without being a specialist planner
- Strong contractor and supplier management experience
- Previous client-side or consultancy project management experience
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including handling challenging requirements
- Collaborative, solutions-focused approach to delivery
- Understanding of CDM Regulations
- Experience monitoring project cost, schedule, productivity and delivery performance
- Full UK driving licence, vehicle, and willingness to travel between sites
