Overview As Capital Schemes Project Manager, you will lead multi-faceted highway schemes to meet strategic priorities, guiding plans and milestones with senior stakeholders. You’ll produce high-quality technical designs and reports, manage contracts and external teams, and ensure projects stay on time and within budget. You work collaboratively to improve services, customer outcomes, and savings. This role offers hands-on delivery, technical leadership, and a chance to shape infrastructure in the borough.

Responsibilities - Produce technical designs to UK standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets, MCHW) and craft professional reports
- Project manage schemes aligned with strategic priorities and organizational approach
- Pre-empt and resolve issues to protect project delivery
- Collaborate with internal and external parties to keep projects on time and within budget
- Administer project processes and service project meetings
- Create clear project plans and delivery timescales
- Liaise with clients, respond to technical queries, and ensure outcomes improve services and savings
Key requirements - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering subject
- Experience using AutoCAD Civils 2D (essential) and 3D (desirable)
- Knowledge of highway standards (DMRB, SHW, Traffic Signs Manual, Manual for Streets)
- Experience with contracts (ICE, NEC, FIDIC)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management role delivering projects from concept to construction
- Ability to manage small–medium budgets and programmes
