About the Role
Our client, a leading firm in the financial services sector, is seeking an accomplished Project Manager to oversee critical technology projects in
Bristol, South West England, UK . This role involves managing the implementation of new financial systems, software enhancements, and regulatory compliance initiatives. You will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet stringent quality and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services technology, a deep understanding of project management methodologies, and exceptional leadership skills. This is a
hybrid role, offering a balance between in-office collaboration in
Bristol and the flexibility of remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of financial technology projects, from initiation to closure.
- Define project scope, objectives, technical requirements, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed timelines, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, testers, and compliance officers.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and industry standards.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee third-party contributions to projects.
- Communicate project status, updates, and key decisions effectively to all levels of the organization.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in project management, with a significant focus on financial services technology projects.
- Proven track record of delivering complex IT projects within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of financial products, services, and regulatory landscapes (e.g., GDPR, MiFID II).
- Proficiency in Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Experience with financial software systems (e.g., core banking, trading platforms, CRM) is essential.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project) and relevant financial software.
- A relevant Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, FRM) are highly desirable.
