About the Role
Our client, a leading global automotive manufacturer with a significant production facility in **Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK**, is seeking an experienced and proactive Project Manager to oversee key manufacturing process improvement projects. This role plays a vital part in enhancing operational efficiency, quality, and the implementation of new automotive technologies. The position offers a hybrid working model, allowing for a blend of on-site engagement at the **Sunderland** plant and remote work flexibility. You will be instrumental in driving innovation and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of automotive manufacturing projects.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in line with business goals.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, budget management, and risk assessment.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Manage project risks and issues, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication.
- Oversee the procurement and implementation of new machinery and production technologies.
- Ensure all projects comply with automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949) and safety regulations.
- Report project status and outcomes to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager, preferably within the automotive manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA) and ERP systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and quality systems.
