About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Project Manager to oversee a critical infrastructure rollout project. This is an on-site role based in our vibrant Manchester office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the planning, execution, and deployment of new IT infrastructure across the organization. This includes network upgrades, server deployments, and system integration. The role demands a proactive approach, strong technical acumen, and exceptional leadership skills to ensure the project's success, delivered on time and within budget. You will work closely with internal IT teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders to achieve project objectives and minimize disruption to ongoing operations. This is a key role in enhancing our client's technological capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of IT infrastructure projects, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, budget management, and risk assessment.
- Coordinate and direct internal IT teams and external vendors to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Oversee the procurement, installation, and configuration of hardware and software components.
- Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Manage project risks and issues, developing and executing mitigation plans as needed.
- Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders, including technical teams and business leaders.
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and budget, providing regular status reports.
- Ensure compliance with IT security policies and industry best practices throughout the project.
- Facilitate post-implementation reviews and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in IT project management, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing complex network and server deployment projects.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components, including hardware, software, networking, and cloud technologies.
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
- Excellent leadership, team management, and vendor management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with budget management for large-scale IT projects.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project or equivalent.
