About the Role
Our client is looking for a seasoned Lead Project Manager to spearhead critical infrastructure development projects in **Birmingham, West Midlands, UK**. This hybrid role requires a strategic thinker with a robust understanding of large-scale construction and engineering projects. You will be responsible for overseeing all phases of project execution, from initial planning and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover. The successful candidate will manage project teams, vendors, and stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with internal departments and external partners to drive project success and achieve strategic business objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive project management plans for major infrastructure projects.
- Lead, mentor, and manage project teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and site supervisors.
- Oversee all aspects of project execution, including procurement, contract management, risk assessment, and quality control.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to ensure compliance and manage relationships.
- Implement and monitor project schedules, identifying and mitigating potential delays or issues.
- Conduct regular project reviews and provide status updates to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations on project sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant focus on infrastructure development.
- Proven experience managing projects exceeding £50 million in value.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles, and relevant UK regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with contract negotiation and vendor management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on project management in a hybrid work setting.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, CIOB) is highly preferred.
