About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of software development projects, from inception to deployment and maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with researchers, scientists, and IT teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Oversee software development activities, ensuring adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and quality assurance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and impediments, ensuring timely project completion.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular project status updates.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional project teams, including remote members.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and research integrity standards.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to enhance software development processes.
- Conduct post-project reviews and document lessons learned for future improvements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing software development projects, preferably within the R&D or biotech sector.
- Proven experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and software development lifecycles.
- Experience in a hybrid work environment, effectively managing both remote and on-site team members.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, programming principles, and database management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, MS Project).
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within the Cambridge research community.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
