About the Role
Our client, a major player in the construction and infrastructure sector, is looking for a highly skilled Lead Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of significant infrastructure development projects in and around
Birmingham . This role demands a strategic thinker with extensive experience in managing large-scale civil engineering and construction projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for the overall success of these projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality. Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end, ensuring all project requirements, deadlines, and specifications are met.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets and resource allocation effectively.
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules, tracking progress and identifying potential delays.
- Lead and motivate project teams, including engineers, contractors, and site staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Implement and enforce strict health and safety standards on all project sites.
- Manage procurement processes, including contractor selection and contract negotiation.
- Oversee the quality control process to ensure all work meets industry standards and client expectations.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Resolve any issues and solve problems that arise during construction and project management.
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Professional Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management within the infrastructure and construction industry.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex, multi-million-pound infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, utilities).
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with contract administration and dispute resolution.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK and willing to travel to various sites across the Birmingham region.
