Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of multiple infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
- Develop strategic project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, risk management, and budget control.
- Direct and manage project teams, including engineers, contractors, and consultants, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Engage effectively with all stakeholders, including government bodies, community representatives, and internal departments, to ensure alignment and buy-in.
- Oversee procurement processes, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and prepare business cases for new infrastructure projects.
- Report on project status, performance, and key metrics to senior management.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the project management function.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Project Manager or Lead Project Manager , specifically within the infrastructure or construction sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale civil engineering or construction projects within the Tyne and Wear region.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and health and safety legislation.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and BIM technologies.
- Experience managing project budgets exceeding £50 million.
- A relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as P.Eng., MRICS, or equivalent are highly advantageous.
- Experience liaising with local authorities in Newcastle upon Tyne .
