About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of biotechnology research and development projects.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scientific objectives, timelines, resource allocation, budget management, and risk assessment.
- Manage and motivate cross-functional teams of scientists, researchers, clinicians, and external collaborators.
- Ensure strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Oversee the execution of experimental protocols, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including academic institutions, CROs, and regulatory agencies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing robust contingency plans.
- Monitor project progress, track key milestones, and report effectively to senior management and scientific advisory boards.
- Contribute to the strategic planning of the R&D pipeline and portfolio management.
- Champion scientific rigor and best practices in project execution and documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Project Management , with a significant focus on Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical Research & Development.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex R&D projects, ideally leading to drug discovery or novel therapeutic development.
- In-depth understanding of the drug development lifecycle, from preclinical research through to clinical trials.
- Experience working with scientific teams and managing laboratory-based projects.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA) and compliance standards in the life sciences industry.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology). A Master’s or PhD is highly desirable.
- Professional certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are advantageous.
- Experience working within the Cambridge life sciences cluster is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet).
