About the Role
Our client, a prominent construction and development firm located in
Birmingham, West Midlands, UK , is seeking a seasoned Lead Project Manager to oversee large-scale infrastructure development projects. This is a critical role requiring extensive experience in managing significant capital projects from conception through to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, contributing significantly to the region's growth and development. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple infrastructure projects, managing all phases from planning and design to construction and handover.
- Develop detailed project plans, establish project governance, and manage project budgets effectively.
- Lead and mentor project teams, including site managers, engineers, and contractors, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and to maintain strong working relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations on project sites.
- Monitor project progress against milestones and KPIs, reporting on performance to senior management.
- Manage contract administration and procurement processes for project-related services and materials.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in project management, specifically within the infrastructure or construction sector.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, utilities).
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, building codes, and health and safety regulations.
- Experience managing project budgets typically in excess of £5 million.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in relevant project management software and construction management tools.
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; professional certifications such as PMP or MCIOB are highly advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively on-site and manage distributed teams.
