About the Role
Our client, a renowned construction and development company operating in
Birmingham, West Midlands, UK , is seeking a seasoned Lead Project Manager to oversee significant construction projects. This role is critical to the successful delivery of high-profile developments, requiring a strong understanding of the construction lifecycle, from planning and design through to execution and handover. You will be responsible for managing project teams, ensuring adherence to stringent safety regulations, and maintaining budget and schedule integrity. The ideal candidate will possess a deep knowledge of construction methodologies and a proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects in a demanding environment. This is a key leadership position within our client's operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet company standards and client expectations.
- Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and monitor progress against these baselines.
- Supervise and mentor project teams, including site engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on all construction sites.
- Manage stakeholder communications, including clients, architects, and regulatory bodies.
- Oversee procurement processes, including tendering and contract negotiation.
- Implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential project disruptions.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Prepare and present project status reports to senior management.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Project Manager within the construction industry, with a proven history of leading major projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional accreditation such as PMP or PRINCE2 is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate diverse teams.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6).
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets effectively and control costs.
- Experience in urban development projects is a plus.
