About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead complex IT infrastructure projects for their organisation, operating primarily from a remote capacity with occasional travel to their Sunderland hub. You will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and successful delivery of critical IT infrastructure upgrades and implementations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. This role demands a proactive individual with a strong understanding of cloud technologies, networking, and cybersecurity, who can effectively manage distributed teams and diverse technical challenges. The successful candidate will play a key role in modernising our IT landscape and enhancing our technological capabilities across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale IT infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, data center migrations, and cloud deployments.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring all projects are completed to specification and on time.
- Coordinate with internal IT teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness of new infrastructure.
- Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide clear and concise project status updates, reports, and presentations to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Ensure all IT infrastructure projects comply with security policies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT project management, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing projects involving cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), network engineering, server administration, and cybersecurity solutions.
- Excellent understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall, and proficiency with relevant tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage remote teams effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working in a remote-first or hybrid environment is highly desirable for this role, supporting operations across the UK including Sunderland .
