About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and driven Project Manager to lead Research & Development projects in the vibrant scientific hub of Cambridge . This hybrid role combines the collaborative energy of on-site work with the flexibility of remote operations. You will be instrumental in guiding cutting-edge R&D initiatives from ideation through to proof-of-concept and potential commercialisation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific or technical background, coupled with exceptional project management skills and the ability to navigate complex, often ambiguous, research landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of R&D projects, ensuring alignment with strategic research goals.
- Develop detailed project plans, including research objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate and facilitate collaboration among research scientists, engineers, and external partners.
- Identify and manage project risks, technical challenges, and intellectual property considerations.
- Track project progress, document findings, and provide regular updates and reports to the R&D leadership team.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer and transition of successful R&D outcomes to development teams.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management , ideally within a Research & Development environment.
- A strong scientific or technical background (e.g., PhD or Master's in a relevant field) is highly preferred.
- Proven experience managing complex projects with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with innovation management and stage-gate processes.
- Experience with project management software and collaboration tools.
