About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead cutting-edge Research & Development projects in Cambridge . This role is pivotal in managing the innovation pipeline, from conceptualisation and feasibility studies through to prototype development and early-stage productisation. You will work at the forefront of technological advancement, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and product teams to bring novel ideas to fruition. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific or technical background, coupled with exceptional project management skills to navigate the complexities of R&D, ensuring timely and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple R&D projects from ideation through to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic innovation goals.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
- Facilitate effective collaboration among research scientists, engineers, and external partners.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement proactive solutions.
- Ensure compliance with intellectual property regulations and ethical research practices.
- Communicate project status, key findings, and milestones to senior management and stakeholders in Cambridge .
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in project management , with a significant portion dedicated to R&D or product innovation.
- Strong understanding of scientific research methodologies and product development lifecycles.
- Proven ability to manage complex, technically challenging projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with stage-gate processes and agile methodologies in an R&D context.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MSc, PhD) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline is highly desirable.
