About the Role
Our client, a prestigious construction and development company, is seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager to oversee a variety of exciting projects in and around
Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear . This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of construction projects, from initial planning and procurement through to final completion and handover. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in managing complex construction endeavours and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of project delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Manage and coordinate all site operations, including construction activities, personnel, and subcontractors.
- Oversee the procurement process, including tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and approve payments.
- Conduct regular site visits and progress meetings.
- Resolve conflicts and technical challenges that arise during the construction phase.
- Prepare project reports and documentation for senior management and clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction project management.
- Demonstrable experience in managing commercial and/or residential construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and relevant construction technologies.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
- Excellent understanding of risk management and quality control principles.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- Membership in a professional body such as CIOB or RICS is advantageous.
